At a Board of Aldermen meeting Tuesday, local resident Stephanie Gilpin expressed her concerns about why evidence was found in the dumpster.

"If this was a careless mistake, hopefully it is addressed and will never be overlooked again," Gilpin said. "If this has been policy, I think is time for a change."

Fayette mayor Jeremy Dawson said the evidence was not handled appropriately.

"We are investigating it as a city," Dawson said. "(Policy) was not followed the way it needed to be. From now, it's basically going to be a city personnel decision to be taken care of."
