{KXLG -Watertown, SD} An 88-year-old man was stuck inside his 2017 Buick Envision until the power was disconnected after a two-vehicle crash into a large electrical box with a 2024 Cadillac XT6 near the intersection of 9th Street Northwest and 4th Avenue Northwest.

On Friday afternoon, January 19, 2024, the 43-year-old driver of the Cadillac XT6 was traveling south in the 400 block of 9th St NW, approaching the intersection of 4th Ave NW. The Buick Envision, driven by a 78-year-old female, was westbound in the 800 block of 4th Ave NW. The vehicles entered the intersection of 9th St and 4th Ave NW at approximately the same time and collided within the intersection. The force of the collision pushed the Buick Envision onto a large electrical box on the SW corner of the intersection.

Watertown Municipal Utilities responded and disconnected power, which also caused temporary power outages in the area.

The male passenger of the Buick Envision was taken to Prairie Lakes Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
