Red River Gorge's new 'glamping' sites are pretty fancy

Enjoying the great outdoors in Kentucky just got a whole lot fancier.

Dappled Light Adventures launched five rental "glamping" (that's glamorous camping) sites Monday, located on 50 acres of privately owned property in Daniel Boone National Forest, just minutes outside of Red River Gorge in Kentucky.  Luxury Family Camping Tent

Each glamping site is housed in a heavy-duty canvas tent that sits on a raised platform, with some up to 10 feet off the ground. Inside, they are furnished with a queen-sized bed, modern seating area, fireplace, full-sized porch and charcoal grills for outdoor cooking. Construction will be completed this summer to add a fully on-grid bathroom and shower house.

Glamping guests also have access to on-property hiking and natural landmarks, including waterfalls, cliffs and overhangs.

“Our goal has always been to help people get outside; we believe that the outdoors are for everyone,” Izaac Rains, a Cincinnati native and co-owner/operator of Dappled Light, said in a release. “Right now, people are craving experiences that will ‘reset’ their minds and help them connect with the people and things that matter.”

In addition to "glamping" sites, Dappled Light Adventures also offers cabin rentals, corporate retreats and guided father-son trips, according to the website.

Glamping tent prices begin at $100 a night, available to book on the website through Airbnb.
